*Digital Exclusion: a modern scourge that should never have happened
Today we received over 100 PC’s from the Computer Science Department.
As you might expect the specification for PC’s being used by Computer Science students are a bit higher than those used for other subjects. It was therefore not surprising that each machine had two 500Gb solid state drives and 32Gb (2 x 16Gb) RAM!
The added bonus is we will be able to reuse 100 of these SSD’s and 100 the 16Gb sticks of RAM in other PC’s we have and we will then have 200 very highly spec’d machines.
As always it was great to catch up with Dr Stuart Norcross and the rest of his team who helped with van loading and even made me a coffee!
We are thrilled to report that laptop donations have reached over 2000 received since December 2024!
We started working with Aegon UK in March 2024. It was a lengthy process becoming a supplier as multiple organisations are involved in managing the decommissioning of their end-of-life IT assets. All had to be satisfied with our capabilities as a service provider and we had to demonstrate we could meet everyone’s rigorous requirements. Key to our success in being selected was that from the very start Blair Wishart the Senior Manager for Partner Relationships and Infrastructure (a key decision maker) totally understood our values and mission and felt very strongly this is exactly what Aegon should be doing with its redundant hardware. We are further pleased to state that such is the strength of our relationship with Aegon UK we are now in active discussions about working with them in the USA! – so watch this space.
In April of this year we received an amazing donation of monitors, pc’s, laptops and SSD’s from ‘computer gaming superstars’ Creative Assembly Limited owned by SEGA Europe. Onboardoing was very straight forward as we clearly share the same values and passion for our work.

The equipment they donated is probably the best we have ever received and the pc’s were actually games development workstations!
Our work in Ukraine has now broadened to also supporting further education colleges such as Nemishaeve and Kyiv Regional In-Service Teacher Training Institute. Their primary focus is teaching building design, construction, utilities infrastructure and service, all vital skills need for the rebuilding a country ravaged by war. Every one of the workstations we have received will be reused for this very purpose by both students and teachers thanks to Creative Assembly.
