School in Ghana prepares room for new computer lab

Ghana, 2005 – One of the challenges with installations of donated computers is to make sure the environment is correctly prepared for the equipment, especially in an organisation where they have never had computers before.

Dust is particularly problematic and if steps aren’t taken to minimise it, the computers won’t last long.

In this school in Ghana, staff had prepared the room meticulously to the brief that Reusing IT had provided. Everything was easy to wipe and clean, and there was space behind the computers for the fans to work. The lighting was just right to allow the pupils to see the screens easily.
