Edinburgh, January 2026: What better way to start the year than to welcome a new sign-up to our volunteer team?
We are beyond thrilled that David Hamilton, Scotland’s Information Commissioner, has chosen to volunteer for us in his own time. Every single one of our volunteers is invaluable, and David’s joining the team is a resounding endorsement of the work of everyone involved in the charity.
Inhabiting the space of access to information and technology in his professional role, David brings an incredible wealth of knowledge, enthusiasm and an engaged network of contacts that will be invaluable to Reusing IT for sourcing end-of-life devices and getting organisations on board with supplying tech.
David’s path crossed Reusing IT’s via humanitarian work in Ukraine; he also was engaged in aid work in the country when he found out that we are one of the largest device suppliers to Ukraine. After quickly arranging the donation of some monitors from his department, it was clear the relationship was one to develop.
David says. “As soon as I met the Reusing IT team I recognised shared values, approach, risk and enthusiasm. It was a real honour to be asked to get involved as this role allows me to blend my interests in IT, digital inclusion, humanitarian work and information handling.”
We too are honoured to welcome David to our merry band of volunteers, and are looking forward to carrying on the fight together against digital exclusion in 2026.
