Reusing IT is about giving people the tools they need to move forward

West Lothian, Scotland, June 2026 – Reusing IT has been providing refurbished devices to the local Access2Employment service in West Lothian for several years. The devices are donated to their service users, who are trying to get back into employment. So it’s fantastic to hear what a difference we’ve been making to people right here on our doorstep! Access2Employment sent us the following, which encapsulates precisely what we are all about. We promise we didn’t give them the script!

“For many people, having access to a computer at home isn’t a given. The cost of buying new equipment can be a real barrier, especially for families and individuals who are out of work or trying to get back into employment. Without regular access to a computer, it’s harder to build confidence, practice skills and keep up with what employers expect.

Through the Reusing IT, refurbished IT equipment has been provided to support individuals and families who would otherwise struggle to afford it. They made sure the devices were securely wiped, checked and made ready for everyday use at home.

Having a computer at home has made a real difference to employability. Individuals were able to:

  • Practice basic computer skills needed for work, such as using email, creating CVs and completing online applications
  • Build confidence by using the same types of systems they would encounter in the workplace
  • Gain experience that felt relevant and practical, rather than just theoretical

For families, the impact went beyond employment:

  • Parents were able to better understand what their children are using computers for at school
  • Families could support learning at home and share access to technology
  • The whole household benefited from being able to get online, whether for schoolwork, job searching or everyday tasks

Reusing IT equipment isn’t just about saving money or reducing waste. It’s about giving people the tools they need to move forward — supporting employability, building digital confidence and making sure families aren’t left behind because of the cost of technology.

Our clients are working with us on a one-to-one basis so we can put funding requests in through the No One Left Behind funding stream to be able to purchase the computers direct from Reusing IT.”Foot noteReusing IT has to date supplied over 200 laptops for Access2Employment.
